foreigner in a foreign land, a stranger in a strange land, a man who belongs nowhere. “Moses named him Gershom, saying, ‘I have become a foreigner in a foreign land’” (Exo 2:22b). Moses was never at home anywhere.

  2. …not as an Egyptian, though he grew up in an Egyptian palace.
  3. …not with his Midianite family in the wilderness.
  4. …not in the promised land, for he wasn’t allowed entrance.
